How we handle it
For new ponds we test the clay, key in the dam, build it in compacted lifts, set the spillway and overflow, then shape the banks. For cleanups we drain, dry, dredge silt and debris, rebuild banks and stabilize.

Will my soil hold water?
We dig test pits and check for clay content before we ever quote a new pond. If the soil isn't right, we'll talk to you about hauling in clay or relocating the pond.
How often should a pond be cleaned out?
Most ponds need attention every 15–25 years depending on watershed runoff and tree fall. If you have a foot or more of muck or banks slumping in, it's time.
