Land clearing takes everything, brush, trees, stumps and root balls, and leaves you a bare, dressed lot ready to build. Forestry mulching takes the vegetation only. The root system and topsoil stay put, and the mulch mat holds moisture and prevents erosion. It's the right tool when you want to reclaim land without stripping it.
Our mulcher comfortably handles standing timber up to about 8-10 inches in diameter. Above that, we drop with the excavator or chainsaw and run the tops through the mulcher. Really large hardwoods you want kept, we work around and leave standing.
The mulch mat suppresses re-growth for a full season on most species. Aggressive re-sprouters like privet, sweetgum and greenbrier come back over 1-2 years. For long-term control we can schedule a maintenance pass or spot-treat the stumps as we go.
